What is Lagom?

Lagom Infusions derives its name from the Swedish term lagom. There is no direct translation into english but it roughly means not too much or not too little. A Google search yields numerous definitions and applications of this concept. But, to me, lagom is about finding one’s own balance of what feels right at any given time since balance is not a static state.

If I were to sum up my tea practice in one word, it would be lagom. Instead of a single favorite tea, I choose what I feel my body needs at the time. One morning it might be a soothing white tea and the next a bold black tea. I weave tea into my daily routine, using different teaware to fit the moment and my mood. This may mean having my iron teapot next to me while I work, brewing with a gaiwan to start a medication, or grabbing my travel cup to take on a hike. Tea can be enjoyed in so many ways and it is my hope that Lagom Infusions can show people just a glimpse of all that tea offers, inspiring a lifelong journey with tea.
